Shark Report
May 2006 Shark Report
I would not go for a swim right now at the beach! We have been lighting sharks up all week long. With all the bait around and the Tarpon filling up the pass, the shark have just made their appearance known. This week has been unbelievable for shark, we have had many hookups with 3-4 ft blacktips, and a few 400 pound plus bulls. Right now you want to get out either early in the morning or if you dare then go at night because the action is explosive. Reserve your day now if you want a shot at these monsters, it will be a very memorable day. See you soon.

Tarpon
May 2006 Tarpon Report
Well the Tarpon are back, I've steadily seen more and more everyday. Most of the action seems to take place first thing in the morning with the bite shutting down around noon, but many others have gotten hooked up later in the day. We have been throwing artificals at the Tarpon and doing fine, although nothing beats a live threadfin. Expect them to be the most sought after fish for the next few months. Heres a few of the 20-30 pound Tarpon taken on the flyrod and a D.O.A baitbuster.

Trout Report
Big Trout in April
Well things are starting to really heat up around here. The fishing improves daily with the warm weather. Bait is plentiful and pretty much everywhere. The Snook seem to be biting in full force with some days boating 20 or more. They are eating mostly everything we throw at them but live whitebait being top choice. Redfish are everywhere with lots of over slot fish, we are mainly catching them near the beaches right now as their appetite is growing. The Trout are moving right into their summertime pattern, we've been getting tons on the grass flats. One day they're plentiful and the next they're not, just a sign that they are moving like they should be this time of year. I actually ran a charter this week that was specifically for Trout. My clients drove over from West Palm Beach, they said that the Trout are harder to come by right now over there so wanted to give it a shot over here. We caught many trout that were undersize, but I knew that big daddy was down there, so we kept on. Check out the size of this monster Trout that Jill caught, a whopping 27" 5 pounder!! Now thats a trout!

Bull Red
Trophy Redfish April 2006
I ran a charter today that was strictly for Redfish, Snook, and Trout. My two clients were driving down from north Florida and had been waiting to fish here for a while. My new friends were Dan and Waylon, they were very excited about getting some fish, so off we went. The fishing was gonna be a little tough since we had 25-30 mph winds blowing all day long. We weren't gonna let that get in our way, so I decided to go way backcountry. We started off with Snook, the bite was on instantly, Waylon got a Snook to the boat on the first cast. We had a few more hookups before Dan hooked the monster, we had this snook boatside, inches from the net when he finally frayed through the leader and popped it. We then went on after the trout and other fish and caught our share, but the wind was keeping us from many key spots with 4-5ft. rollers where its usually calm as can be. We didn't have that trophy Red we were talking about yet so we decided to go find one. Within an hour Waylons reel starts peeling off drag towards the bushes, he managed to turn the fish and bring him into the open flat. All of the sudden there it was a monster Bull Red! Just what we wanted, we landed him and snapped a few pics. He turned out to be 33" 13 pounds. Not a bad day for the conditions we had.
